Most people think of playing soft music and lighting up some candles when they want to create a romantic atmosphere. But that is not enough if you want to create a room with romantic decoration. You should use some of these interior design ideas for adding the romantic feel to your room.

Use some gold in the room. You can add a gilt sconce, a golden framed mirror, or a crystal and gilt chandelier for that golden effect. Consider using wallpeper that has a little gold in it. You can also get some gilt-leaf material from a craft store, and begin gilding some pieces of furniture. The antique feel of gilt has always been perceived as romantic.

Use some wrought iron. Scrollwork of wrought iron is elegant and romantic. Find wrought iron tables, side chairs and fire place screens that have curvy patterns. If you don’t want to add extra furniture, use wrought iron wall decorations which you can purchase at garden centers and other home stores.

Use silk for decoration. Silk provides a romantic texture and look, so it’s a good idea to use silk draperies. You can also upholster some chairs, or just simply decorate your room with some silk throw pillows.

Use curves. Curvy patterns should be used a lot for a better romantic effect. Try to choose furniture with curved legs, and sculptural lamps. Don’t overuse the curves though, keeping curves everywhere can distract the eye.

Add some embellishments. Make your room even more beautiful by adding ribbon details to your lamps, tassels to your pillows, and any other pretty accessory you can imagine. Using lace borders and thin candles will also create a great romantic effect.

Add flowers. So here is the last step. Once you get everything ready, you should complete your work with some romantic flowers. Use flowers that have been associated to love and romance, and stay away from dark and bright colors. Magnolias and roses that have soft colors are good choices for a romantic room.
